2017 after-dinner entertainment - Hal Cruttenden, Comedian, writer & actor

This year's FN50 comedian, Hal Cruttenden, is fast becoming one of the top comedians working in the UK today as well as being an accomplished writer and actor. His big break through in stand up came with his nomination for the Perrier Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Festival for his solo show 'Hal'.

He moved into TV as a warm up at the BBC for The Jonathan Ross Show and went on to write and perform in The Omid Djalili Show. Following his memorable performances on The Royal Variety Show, Hal’s appeared on the Rob Brydon Show, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, John Bishop’s Only Joking, Have I Got News for You and The Great British Bake Off (an extra slice).

Trained as an actor at the Central School of Speech and Drama, Hal's acting roles on TV and film include ‘Shackleton’, ‘EastEnders’, ‘Kavanagh QC’, ‘Touching Evil’ and ‘Bramwell’. On film he has been in ‘Mrs Dalloway’ and ‘The Madness of King George’ and received rave reviews for his West End performance in the monologue adaptation of George Orwell’s ‘Coming Up For Air’.

In his live shows he takes the personal, the surreal, the ridiculous and the political and mixes them into one rich comic cocktail.
